Vilnius, LITHUANIA – June 30, 2010 – SolidACE, a company developing computer aided design and engineering tools for the architectural, building and construction engineering, and plant engineering markets, today announced the release of the new version (1.2) of BuiltWorks 2010, a computer aided structural design and engineering software suite for use in the SolidWorks environment.

This new version marks another important milestone in development of BuiltWorks 2010 – besides all the enhancements it introduces a new concept of BuiltWorks Connection object. BuiltWorks Connection was available from the beginning and was used for storing a set of specific structural rules of prioritizing and cutting the members that joins at the connection, adding the needed endplates. The new concept of BuiltWorks Connection now will allow storing virtually any SolidWorks body, feature or command.

Ver. 1.2 of BuiltWorks 2010 also provides cardinally redesigned Drawing Generator, which now allows using drawing styles and predefined views in SolidWorks drawing templates. The improvements in BuiltWorks interoperability tools, such as SDNF and DSTV-NC import and export, make SolidWorks even more open platform for integration with CAD/CAM/CAE best of breed vertical applications in the market.

“We are fulfilling our commitment to the user community to keep consistently adding new features and improving the product intensively during the whole first year of its life,” comments the release of BuiltWorks 2010 Dr. Vladimir Popov, CEO of SolidACE. “The new technology of smart connection detailing, that we introduce with this release, opens the doors for BuiltWorks to a market of structural steel design applications with full design and detailing functionality. With each new upcoming release we will be adding new tools and features that expand the power of proven SolidWorks modeling engine for ‘next generation’ structural design tools which allow engineers to fully benefit from its inherent 3D parametric nature.”

Some of the most important new functions and improvements of BuiltWorks 2010 v.1.2 are:

  • General features:
    • New Installer:
      • Compressed – even less amount to download (~15 MB);
