SolidACE releases new major version 2.0 of BuiltWorks

SolidACE started support of multiple versions of SolidWorks® 3D CAD platform with a new release of BuiltWorks 2011 v.2.0.

Vilnius, LITHUANIA – September 30, 2011 – SolidACE, a company developing computer aided design and engineering tools for the architectural, building and construction engineering, and plant engineering markets, today announced the release of the new major version (2.0) of BuiltWorks, a structural steel design and engineering add-in application for SolidWorks® CAD environment.

Version 2.0 has new brand name BuiltWorks 2011, and it fully support the corresponding version of 3D CAD platform – SolidWorks 2011. SolidACE also decided to continue the support of previous platform version of BuiltWorks 2010 for SolidWorks 2010 due to multiple requests from user community that keep using SolidWorks 2010 for daily business. SolidACE is also committed to release later this year the version of BuiltWorks, which will support new recent release of SolidWorks 2012.

Some of most important new features and enhancements in BuiltWorks 2011 v.2.0 are:

  • Compiled and tested against SolidWorks 2011 (BuiltWorks 2010 v.1.5 with the same features released in parallel supporting SolidWorks 2010);
  • Connection detailing – trimming: improved user experience using colorful illustrations with trim parameters (notches);
  • Performance highly improved in trim operations and some functions working with plates;
  • Placement of steel members: full support of Cardinal Points without changes to offset value;
  • Export to SDNF (Steel Detailing Neutral Format by Intergraph) now uses Cardinal Point definitions and cutbacks;
  • Export to CIS/2 (CIMSteel Integration Standards release 2 by AISC) now supports End Plates and Free Plates;
  • BuiltWorks Members are supported now by SolidWorks Simulation for analysis as 3D solid bodies or 1D beams at user choice;
  • Enhanced stability when exchanging models between Windows XP 32bit and Windows 7 64bit o/s versions;

The new BuiltWorks 2011 version 2.0, as well as continuously supported BuiltWorks 2010 version 1.5, is available for download.
